U15 Girls Welcome Message

Parents and U15 Lady Laxers,

Welcome to Tribal Lacrosse/Spring 2012 -- the fastest game played on two feet!!

On behalf of the coaching staff, we would like to welcome you to the spring season. With over 40 players registered, we are looking forward to an exciting season. Before the season begins, we thought it appropriate to review a few important topics.

1. Tribal is one of the few programs fortunate enough to have pre-season, indoor practice facilities. We do not want to risk losing these facilities and as such, appropriate conduct at facilities such as Strike One is expected. Indoor Practice will begin Tuesdays and Thursdays the week of March 5th.

The schedule is listed here

Strike One
  • No unattended player drop-off/pick-up– please escort your player to/from the bench area
  • All players should be on the field during practice
  • Water bottles to be left in the bench area

2. Tribal has registered 2 teams with MBGLL (MA Bay Girls Lacrosse League) this year. MBGLL dictates that all teams are to be balanced in terms of talent. Our intent is to review the players during our indoor sessions and assemble teams sometime in March. Both teams will practice together through the season.  Games are played on Sunday's ( 8 games followed by a Jamboree Tournament that both teams will attend).

3. Part of our goal at the youth level, is to teach players basic skills, strategies and an understanding of the rules so they are successful and prepared to play at the next level in high school.  For new players, the combination of trying to master basic skills and learning the rules of a new sport can be overwhelming, but don't worry, it will come together.

4. Regardless if your daughter has played the sport, we recommend everyone (players and parents) familiarize themselves with a few of the rules of the game.  The attached link is to the MBGLL town league rule.  On the page, you will see a link to US Lacrosse_the sport.  This site also has some very helpful information, including several short videos that do a nice job explaining certain rules.     http://www.mbgll.org/Page.asp?n=37237&org=mbgll.org

5. Communication:  All team information regarding games and practices will be communicated via email and posted on the team website. If you have any questions or comments, please let us know as soon as possible. The coaches are typically available after practice to discuss specific issues you or your player may have. We are also available via email and telephone.  Please make sure we have your correct email address.

6. Practice/Game Policy: We appreciate that given the time pressures, not everyone can make every practice however, we will keep attendance and if your player does not practice consistently with the team – she cannot expect the same playing time as others.
  • Please notify your coach(es) by email if you are unable to make a practice, or game.
  • Have your players arrive 5 to 10 minutes early for practice to allow time to get their gear on, practices will start promptly.
  • Make arrangements to pick-up your player(s) on time at the conclusion of practice.
  • On game days, players must arrive at least ½ hour prior to the start of the game for warm up.
  • Please arrive at practice with proper footwear and attire (no jewelry, jeans etc...).
  • When we move practice outdoors, be prepared and dressed for the weather.  If its cold or damp - sweat shirt/pants, jogging tights, knit cap, gloves etc...  Better to be comfortable than cold!
  • Make sure you have a water bottle and equipment with you before you leave your house.  If you don't have your goggles, or mouth guard, you will not be permitted to play.

7. We will also be forming a tournament team which will practice every Friday at 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. Participation on the tournament team will be by invitation and there will be addition fees to cover the cost of a few tournaments.  As always, our town games will be on Sundays, and we will be scheduling tournament team games for Friday or Saturdays.

8. Health Issues/Injuries: Please contact us directly with any health issues or other concern you may have. If a player is injured at either a practice or a game, please make sure one of the coaches know.

9. The Tribal Lacrosse Board of Directors has adopted a No Tolerance Policy toward bullying, fighting or any other behavior that deviates from acceptable sportsmanship during games, practices or any event sponsored by this Organization. Each infraction will be reviewed by the Board resulting in either suspension or ejection from the program.

10. Uniform Pinnees will be given to all players as soon as they are available...usually during the 1st week of outdoor practice.  NEW for 2012 - Uniform skirts will be worn in lieu of shorts and can be purchased at http://www.athleticenterprises.net/tribal-lacrosse.html.

11. Tribal is looking for any gently used equipment.  If you have items that you would like to donate to the program we will collect these items at the first indoor practice.  Items will be donated to families in need both in our program and METRO Lacrosse (an urban lacrosse program in Boston).

SAVE THE DATE:  Both Tribal teams will participate in the MBGLL “play date” or round robin scrimmages on March 17th in Charlestown (11am - 5pm). All girls will be expected to participate.

We are excited for the season.  This is a great group of kids and we look forward to seeing you at practice!
