2010 Spring Lacrosse - Please Read

Tribal Lacrosse has programs for Boys (grades 1 - 8) and Girls (grades 2-8).

Lacrosse is often referred to as the “fastest game on two feet” and has been more recently recognized as the fastest growing youth sport in the U.S.

Since the inception of our youth lacrosse program in 1994 we have continued to focus on skill development, sportsmanship and encouraging a love for the game.  These efforts have provided a platform for many of our alumni to go on to compete in high school and college.

What’s New for Spring 2010

With an increased emphasis on skills development, we will be adopting a new format for the 2010 season that is the result of research and discussions among the board in addition to high school, club and college lacrosse coaches.  These changes are intended to develop and improve the skills of our existing players and encourage new players to come aboard. Our new format is very similar to the Duxbury Youth Lacrosse program, one of the strongest youth leagues in the Northeast.  Following is an overview:

  • House League 7v7– More Touches, More Playing Time, Better Skills -- All Tribal players will participate in The Tribal House League.  Teams of all ages will engage in small-sided 7v7 play for practices and games.  Once outdoor fields are dry, there will be two weekday practices and officiated House League games on Sundays.  Games against other towns may be scheduled in place of one of the practice nights as the season progresses. Some of these games may be away.  Format for U9 & U11 games against other towns will be 7v7.  Format for U13 & U15 games against other towns will be full-field or 7v7 at the discretion of the coaches.

  • Goalies – Half Price for 2010 -- Goalies at the U13 and U15 levels will be half price this year.  This does not mean your player will play goalie every minute of every game, but we are interested in developing a group of players that are interested in this position with goalie clinics and individual attention. (One of our former goalies has committed to play Division 1 lacrosse at U Mass Amherst next year. It’s a great position for the right player.)

  • Indoor Practices Kick-Off March 1st – U11/U13 and U15 players (not U9) will start indoor practices at Strike One in Danvers or at the Proctor Elementary school two evenings a week.  We will move to outside practices when fields dry.

  • End-of-Season Tournaments – U9 Boys and U11 Boys & Girls  (1st-2nd and 3rd-4rd grade players will again participate in the 7v7 Taryn King Jamboree at no additional charge.  U13 & U 15 House League Players will be eligible to participate in a end-of-season Jamboree at no additional charge.

  • Tournament Teams
    • U15 Boys & Girls: We will continue to offer an optional select tournament team for an additional fee where players will have the opportunity to tryout and compete in additional games and tournaments that don’t conflict with the House League schedule.  New players are encouraged to try out – Last season, our boys tournament team had a number of new players.
    • U13 Boys & Girls: We will continue to field a tournament team to play in the annual Memorial Weekend Tournament and a few non-conflicting scrimmages.  An additional tournament fee will be assigned to all participating players.
